If you'd like to NPC for us, or know someone who would, please encourage them to preregister now: http://cottingtonwoods.com/events/npc_pregistration.php

We have a lot of exciting roles for the Opening April 19-21, 2013 event, and we'd love to precast you in roles! Our goal is to send casting and role information well in advance of the event, so you can prepare. (Though there will be some roles cast at the event itself). We'd love to make our First Full Weekend Event unforgettable, so please join us in creating a story our players will love.

We also strongly encourage NPCs to fill out our Survey if they have the time. It lets us know what kinds of roles they prefer:
http://cottingtonwoods.com/events/npc_survey.php

Our goal with Cottington Woods is to have at least a 3:1 ratio of PCs to NPCs. We feel that this really is the minimum number we'd need to be able to run all the plotlines, introduce all the characters and people of the world, and generally be able to entertain you all with the stories of our world. In a truly ideal world, we'd have at least a 2:1 ratio, but we know that might be asking a lot. But if we could achieve that, imagine what we could do! :)

If you are on the fence about whether to PC or NPC...Collapse )

Our NPC list is here:
http://groups.google.com/forum/castcottingtonwoods

We consider our Cast to be just as important as Staff or Players. We want them to have fun and be as invested in the game as all of us are. Our goal is to assign very important roles to as many of our Permanent NPC base as we can, and to provide them with enjoyable, recurring roles. Our Permanent NPCs will get priority when it comes to casting important/recurring roles, as well as priority when it comes to assigning NPC housing. And, as stated above, all NPCs will have a "Townie" or two, and Permanent Staff will have "Townies" with their own story arc and/or minor plotline.
Sorry for the delay!  The Between Event Submission Form is now up and online for you to submit your Info Skills:
http://goo.gl/AJojb

Please note:
Deadline for submission is 11/18/2012.

You may submit info skills for skills you do not yet have but will be purchasing with your event/donation CP.  For those who attended the One-Day, you will earn 5 CP for attendance, 5 CP for a PEL, and 5 CP for Setup/Cleanup, just so you know what CP you will earn.

If you have not played yet, but are intending to purchase Between Event Skills for your character, you may submit skills in the form now.

If you do not submit skills by the deadline, we will assume you are using them Passively (for skills that have a Passive use) or that you decided not to use your skill this event.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

First off, we want to THANK ALL OF YOU for braving the cold and the wilds of the Woods to join us in Cottington Woods, players and NPCs alike.

We hope you had a fantastic time, and we can't wait to hear about all the things you were up to.

We especially want to thank you for your patience, as we started late and thus ran late, and we know it was pretty bitterly cold out there in the end.

Our players made some fantastic and amazing characters that we completely enjoyed running with, and we look forward to the many adventures ahead.

Our NPCs -- okay, let's be honest. They rocked. They carried the day. Cottington Woods exists because they breathed life into it. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You guys are awesome.

We hope to see you all in the Spring!
-------------

On to PELs (Post-Event Letters!

Our PEL deadline is two weeks, on 11/18/2012. You can still submit PELs after this deadline, but you will not receive CP for it. As this was a one-day event, you received 5 CP for sending a PEL in.

Please send all PELs to PEL@cottingtonwoods.com.

Player PEL FormCollapse )

Thank you all again so very much. We hope you had fun out in the Woods, and we look forward to taking you back for more adventures in the spring.

Potluck Dinner List

Included below is the current list of Potluck Dinner Entrees for the One-Day event.  There are a number of you who are still "TBD."  Feel free to take a look at the list and pledge whatever you feel might be missing or needed for the potluck.  Reply to this post, or send an email to donations@cottingtonwoods.com and we'll update the list as additional entrees are approved.

Remember:
- you will not have access to use a stove, microwave, or fridge at the event
- you can bring crockpots or kettles; we will be able to plug them in for you
- Potluck items will be handed into the kitchen prior to the beginning of the event. You will not have access to the kitchen.  Starting at 5pm, we will bring all the potluck items out to set up for dinner
- Please try to provide an ingredients list so those with allergies know what it is they might be eating
- You can bring a cooler, but they will have to stay outside of the building.
- There will be water (cold and hot) available to drink at the event

Any other questions, please let us know.

Donations - Get Your CP

UPDATED 10/29/2012 12:21pm.  We have updated our list for only the most critical items to get for the event.  Take a look to see what you can donate for that last-minute CP!

To sign up for donations, please send an email to donations@cottingtonwoods.com.  Include what you are volunteering to donate and how many.

Please wait for confirmation from us before purchasing.  This is to ensure that we have not already received an offer to purchase that item.  We will not award CP if you haven't cleared the item through us first.  We really do appreciate the eagerness to buy us stuff, but we want to ensure that we cover everything we need and don't end up with, say, 3000 makeup sponges but no actual makeup.  (Not that we have, but you get the idea).  :)

We've added some details to some of the costuming; many of them don't even need to be hemmed.  So if you don't have sewing skills, you can still volunteer for some of them, even if you don't have a sewing machine!
Remember that if you go over 150 CP, it will be banked, and will automatically apply at the next event when the cap increases.

Hi everyone!!

As a reminder, Player Preregistration for the One-Day Event opens tonight at 9pm.  Please do not register before 9pm, in order to be fair to everyone.  The registration form has a timestamp, so we will know when registrations are received.  Further, this is a first-come, first-serve, since we have to place a Player Cap, presently set at 70 players.  We will take a waitlist, and if we are able to increase the cap, we will do so.

Some important details about Player Preregistration:

-- Preregistering means you are committing to coming to the event.  If you are on the preregistration list and circumstances change, please notify us so we can let someone on the Waitlist register for the event.

If you Preregister, this means:
-- you are committing to pay the $25 Membership Fee in 2 weeks, by 10/17/2012.  We have to pay for annual insurance costs before the event, so it is critical that we receive the Membership fee by that date.  If you can pay sooner, please do so.
-- you are committing to pay for the Event Fee by Friday 10/26/2012, so that we can pay the event fees.  If you can pay sooner, please do so.
-- if you don't pay for membership or event fees, we will move you to the waitlist and allow the next person on the waitlist to attend the event
-- You can pay for the membership and event fees by sending a payment via PayPal to prereg@cottingtonwoods.com.  If you prefer to pay by check, please let us know and we'll provide payment details.

EVENT DETAILS:
Please read, as there are some changes!

Date: Saturday 11/3/2012
Time: 12pm-10pm
Game begins promptly at 12pm.  PCs are encourage to arrive starting at 11am to get into game.  If you wish to assist with setup, please arrive by 11am.
Location: Camp Eagle Pass, 38 Walker Road, Wales, MA
Cost of the Event: $50, $40 if you bring a Potluck Entree

Potluck Dinner:  Dinner at the game will be held In-Game at the Cotting House, from the hours of 5pm to 7:30pm.  Given the success of the Potluck Dinner at the Playtest, we will be having a Potluck Dinner in-game at the event as the community comes together for the first time.  Sitting down for dinner acts as your Twilight Refresh for the event.  We will not be stopping game for dinner at this event, but will have the Potluck ongoing for two hours to ensure that everyone, PC and NPC alike, gets an opportunity to eat. If you are willing to provide an entree to the Potluck, you receive a $10 discount on Event Admission.

Food Allergies:  If you have food allergies or dietary needs or restrictions, please indicate this on the event registration form.
For those providing food for the potluck, please kindly prepare an ingredients list on a card to display at the potluck so that those with allergies can make informed choices about what to eat.

Potluck Check-in at the Event:  We will provide details closer to the event, but Potluck items will be handed to staff at check-in to store in the kitchen, and will be brought out once dinner begins (just like we did at the Playtest event).  We will not have use of the stove or microwave, but crockpots or kettles are allowed.  Please contact us if your item needs refrigeration, as there is very limited fridge space.  Coolers are allowed, but they must be kept outside in case of leakage.  Players can earn some in-game coin by assisting with Dinner; speak with the Cotting Family in-game at the event.  :)

Annual Membership Fee:  $25
Cottington Woods has an annual membership of $25.  This is to help cover Insurance and Liability costs, storage fees, and other annual expenses for the game.  Membership lasts for 1-year.  Memberships purchased for the 1-day Event will last through the end of 2013.

One-Day Event Preregistration Cap:  70 Players
Presently, we are capping the One-Day event at 70 Players.  This is for a number of reasons, but largest among them is NPC preregistration numbers.  In order to ensure that we can entertain all of our players to the extent we want to, we need to limit the number of Players until our NPC preregistration numbers increase.

Preregistration is first-come, first-serve.  The registration form is time-stamped, so we will have the order in which registrations are received.

We will be taking a Waitlist, so it's still in your interest to preregister!  As our NPC numbers increase, we will increase our PC Cap for the first event.

NPCing the Event if you intend to PC Later:
We will allow players to NPC the event.  So if you don't get onto the Preregistration list, you can still participate by NPCing!  And you can apply your NPC CP directly back to your character in Cottington Woods.  If you plan to NPC, please preregister here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFA1THlLUnc3cklUU2JGMTJOMlo5S0E6MQ#gid=0
And please remember that we are looking for more NPCs!

2013 Weekend Event Schedule (Tentative)

We're excited to announce that you can now pencil in dates for Cottington Woods for 2013!  We've held our dates with the campsite, and while we still need to put the deposits down to guarantee them, the site has confirmed that the dates are being held for us.

2013 Weekend Event Schedule
April 19-21
June 7-9
September 20-22
October 25-27

We will be running at Camp Frank A. Day in East Brookfield, MA.  For those familiar with Mirror Mirror, this is the same site that they use.  Click here to see a map that is fairly accurate of the site.  The Player area will be the "Juniors" section of the site, with the Cotting House located at the Dining Hall.  Cabins are large and can sleep 10 people per cabin.

You can check out the camp website here: http://campfrankaday.org/

More details about weekend events will be forthcoming later, once Player Numbers, event prices, and other logistics are determined.  In the meantime, Save the Dates and hope to see you all come Into The Woods beginning at the One-Day Event on November 3, 2012!
